Hello-

A few weeks ago I acquired a Birge and Mallory 8 day triple decker column clock (see photograph). I ultrasonic bathed the large strap movement, cleaned up the case, and did some minor repairs. Most pivots seem reasonable, two being replaced. It is a nice clock. Keeps good time. The only negative that it came with a replacement Roman numeral dial. Not too bad for a reproduction. But it is rather disheartening to see the back of the dial which reveals it to be made of 1/4” rough unfinished masonite. If I keep it I would put two coats of poly on it to seal it against shedding as masonite will do over time.

Been checking eBay religiously for an authentic dial for my clock. So far I have found nothing close to its 11.5” square size with the wide set wind holes and handshaft-to-wind hole distances (4.125” and 2.635”). From what I have seen these early B+M clocks came with Arabic numerals which I would prefer. If anyone has one to sell me or know of a source let me know. Thanks.
