Would anyone know how many NAWCC members there are in Canada. Thanks.
members in Canada
I did contact her.
Good afternoon, Kevin!
The latest figures I have indicate that there are 278 NAWCC members in Canada. The worldwide total is 12,076.
Chair, Membership Committee
Thanks very much Tim, appreciate the help.
Seems like a very low number for such a large country. So the question is: Is it low because of the cost, or is it low because most Canadian horologists have never heard of NAWCC?
If we divide Canada's 278 members by the population (36.8 Million) it is .00000757351
If done for the US( 12,000 divided by 326,800,000) it is .00000367197, so statically speaking, we need better efforts in the US.
Well not trying to open a can of worms, but i think many horologist dont feel the money paid to join the the NAWCC is worth it.I have to admit i was very surprised it is such a small number of people.
It does seem like an awfully low number.
But from personal experience I can say that supporting a watch habit in Canada can be expensive and finding watches or watch related material is difficult unless you're happy to put your trust in the internet. Let's face it, there isn't a very big market up here for what is a very specialized hobby so there isn't much support. We've had two of the four local clock guys pack it in lately and another is talking retirement, with not enough people interested there just isn't anybody starting up around here. I asked around and I understand the only school around that teaches horology is in Quebec, which is a fine place but a bit of a commute to take some training for a hobby as I live in Ontario
There just to few Canucks up here spread out across too much space.
