• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Hi Guys, brought this clock solely because i wanted to here the Whittington chime cost me 15 bucks, lovely clock in very good condition, would like to date and maker this clock, the photo of the makers mark, shows a clock dial with a set of hands i am pretty sure it is German,i thought the whittington chime will take a bit of getting used to, to me more of a noise then a chime.its out of its case because it needed oil. quite a tight fit getting the movement out.Been running since saturday no problems. i will keep it for a while.

Re: Napolen Whittington and Westminster clock.

It's an Urgos movement, Binman, probably about 1930's.

Nice find Richard. If you decide to give it a clean, it looks like the barrels can come out without splitting the plates

Hi Tonyboy, I never know what barrels can be removed with out splitting the plates, After letting the spring down and removing the click and spring, what side do you tap them out from, Harold I'm sure that isn't the mark for Urgos, started to go through the Mikrolisk list but that will take forever there are 39 As so a few hundred to check, around the out side is numbers 1 to 12 the hands read 10.35 to right of center is a set of gong rods.as if you were looking down on them with the chiming rod base at the top.

It looks like to me that after letting down the mainsprings, undo the 3 screws that hold the plates where the winding arbor comes through, you might have to remove the screws from the click spring and ratchet holder as well. Then the barrels should slide out. Mark the barrels with a felt tip pen like a sharpie so you know where they go back. Same goes for the springs if you take them out. Also i'd agree with Urgos

"Harold is always very helpful", so his settings say. I might add, he can ID an Urgos (Uhren- und Gongfabrik Haller, Jauch & Pabst, Schwenningen) in the dark.
You really should have more "faith and trust".... :p

Some quick-out barrels slide out to the sides / the bottom. If so, there are slits in the plates, of course.
Others come out by simply pulling out the winding arbors to the front after removing the click wheel.
You have to turn the arbors into a certain position to unlock them.
Just try and fool around, there's nothing that can be broken. :)
