Interesting! It looks a bit odd maxed at the fast end of adjustment. I think I might be tempted to put a thinner spring on it (if it's keeping time now). It would look less stressed :)

I think you meant "thicker"; but, yeah... get those ball posts a bit more vertical.
It's hard to tell from the pic... Are the brass buttons mounted on the pillars to act as bumpers?
The glass and copper spin along with the more mundane components. Correct?
Also curious as to whether that's a US Penny showing through the glass.

Oops. Yeah thicker sounds right. I was thinking 'you need to slow it down' but the opposite is true:) The rest of your comment sounds right, mostly. There are no bumpers though, just counter weights.

Thank you all. Yes, I need to use a thicker s. spring.
I posted the photo right after the pendulum was finished.
Doing this is just for fun.

Hi Ming, I think this is fabulous, is the centre Perspex and did you turn the copper ring from a section of tube or a flat sheet? This is a great idea for jazzing up an otherwise pretty standard clock as a bit of fun and it makes a great talking point.
    thanks for sharing it, Damian

Thank you Damian. The Ring was made out of a straight piece of rectangular shape copper magnet wire. I put the wire in oven to anneal (softening to be more manageable) and then bend it into ring. After bending, the ring was put in a solder pot to joint the end. I put the ring on lathe to cut all the surfaces flat. Center clear piece was a piece of lathed Plexiglas to make the ring look like floating. I used the ring with two brass "hockey pots" as regulator for awhile. The problem was the hockey pots sitting on the Plexiglas could not be positioned accurately, hence, the clock keeps poor time. Finally, I added the two ball regulator. The clock is now keep time.

I really like the skeletal look, and the colored wheels are pretty cool too.

Martin, the US penny there is for covering the cup hole on the base. The brass screws on the copper ring pendulum are for the look like those watch balance.
