My latest Anniversary clock

This was my $10 purchase over the weekend. It's a Kundo anniversary clock, made by the Cuckoo clock company. Not dated, but has the clear plastic tube over the wire to the pendulum. It's complete, needs a good cleaning and oiling for it to run properly.

Came with a key. It will go with my Schatz anniversary clock. They have the same face, except for the name. The back on the Schatz has the metal protector and thumb screw and is dated 11-56. This one was $20. I mainly like Pocket watches, but these 2 appealed to the wife, so I bought them.

Nice looking clocks! From the repair guide for 400-day clocks, it suggests that the Kundo is c1953. Seems to be plate #1039A in the guide.

If memory serves, the Cuckoo Clock Company was an American trade company that imported clocks made overseas. Kundo fitted a number of different spring guard styles; the plastic variant secured by screws suggests late 1950's. Your wife has good taste in clocks!

It is plastic and unneeded. I'd rather see the wire unobscured.

The guards do protect the spring from accidents. The plastic guard at least allows one to see the spring. The metal ones do not.

If what you are trying to say is that the guard didn't prtect the spring. It could be said that the clock was likely moved with the pendulum attached and no guard can save it from that.

It's best to see the whole back plate to evaluate which plate picture from the guide. But it appears the spring size is 0.003".

Yes. Common that donated and garage sale anniversary clocks are moved withouthe pendulum secured even when a locking lever is present.
Whenever I see one I lock it if possible.

It's not numbers but rather the lettering, shape, and hole pattern on the back plate that tells the story.
