This was waiting for me today, really like the look of this watch.
I am pretty sure the dial is not original, but a great looking dial anyway.
So this is my 5th 5th pinion Illinois I have ,maybe I should stop there....but probably not.

Nice find, I would guess that dial is 40-50 years newer than the movement.

Thanks Rob, I will be on the lookout for a proper dial.
The pocketwatch database shows the 3 foot pattern for this watch, which I assume is correct? This 3 foot pattern must be fairly common since it was still available on this much later dial.

Before you jump the gun so to speak, the Model 3 Illinois 18s movement does have a 'unique' dial. The dial foot position is listed @ 15 21.5 38 minutes, versus
    2 21.5 and 38.5 minutes for models 4 and 6
but the location of the seconds bit is different on the Model 3 18s than on the open face mode 4&l 6; it is closer to the center hole
You'll be needing a dial specific to the Model 3 movement....
Megger's book, page 80 gives some information.

Terry, so this cut sheet that I borrowed from the pocketwatch database is the correct pattern?

    Terry,
Because you have it in your signature "Russ Snyder Illinois CD database" ..........
I have been asked multiple times how people can get this CD. I have
been told by some that they have tried but never got a response.
    Can you enlighten us.

Foot pattern shows correct by the numbers, but the detail of the distance from center hole to seconds bit hole is not
illustrated... this is the important feature for the model 3 dial fitment!

I needed to edit a link in my signature, only to find the number of allowable links are limited...so a direct link not possible,
    going thru the 149 website.....

try this link... for a description to the feature and a contact. If this does not work, I'll do what i can for you.

Hi Jay, one of my early purchases was few hundred from yours. s/n 68719 M3 17j I wore it when I first got it and it was a good time keeper. It's been stored for a while waiting for a COA. I've assumed the dial was original.

Thanks for showing yours Joe, very nice. Good example of the style of dial I need to find . I have compared yours and mine, it seems the jewel setting is a little different.
I am curious about the age of the model 3 movement the dial was taken from and put on my watch. It seems pretty newer as opposed to the model 3 watches I have seen, although I have really not seen alot.
How long where the 18s model 3 produced?

FWIW... The latest model 3 in my collection is SN 1192766, made in 1893. I too am a bit surprised that the late replacement dial fits your model 3. They must have made some specific to the model 3?
