Hello everyone,

I picked up this rather nice Anglo American striking clock at a clock fair this morning. The movement is clearly marked Ingraham and apart from a few minor issues, looks in relatively good condition.

I’m guessing this dates from the 1880s but I would appreciate any more detailed information. Many thanks,

Phil

A nice looking Anglo-American clock. The label is not one I recall having seen before. Perhaps others can comment on that.

The movement is dated April 1906 (4 06); so, the clock is not before that date and may be a bit later, assuming, of course that the movement is original to the case..

I was also surprised at the absence of side pieces, similar to those shown in this post. However I'm not sure that is indicative of anything but my own iggerance.

All in all, I might have gone for it, the price (and the wife) being compatible.

BTW, it is not really an Ingraham per se, but an Ingraham movement in a U.K. case. New Haven and Welch movements are most commonly found in these clocks, but several others are as well.

Forgot to say, the movement could probably stand a cleaning, etc. Certainly, the rust should should be removed from the gong. But you knew that didn't you? Of course, you did.

Hello Steven, and many thanks for the information. Yes, the decorative side pieces or “ears” are indeed missing, so thank you for the pictures - I hope to find some that are a close match.

This clock is destined for the Museum where I work as volunteer horologist, so it’ll get a full overhaul in due course!

Kind regards,

Phil
