Hi, there is no hiding it I have no idea if a president clock is of good pedigree or otherwise. Today I met a lovely old lady who proudly showed me her President wall clock circa 1980 ish. It had a calender, pendulum and was wound anticlockwise. Apparently the clock worked until a decorator moved it a few years ago. I noted the minute hand was touching the dial and remedied this but unfortunately the clock needs more work. I usually wouldn't entertain modern clocks but on face value this one looks interesting. However have any of you more experienced guys knowledge of these clocks and could advise on how troublesome the clock could be if I was silly enough to volunteer to look at it. regards Chris
They are 1970s /1980s Asian reproduction wall clocks that are branded "President" and "31 Days" on the dial. I've seen repro box and RA regulators that carry that brand name over the years.
Yes I think generally poor standard clocks made in several countries but they apparently may go back some way, not sure however if it's the same company. However I will take the view the movement will be cheap and stay clear. I only have the one picture which doesn't do the clock any justice, it actually looks nice...just not old enough for me. Chris
That one has the look of a Japanese clock, from around 1970 ? If so, it will probably have a round brass or nickel plated brass movement. These are pretty good movements but most are badly worn at present. Willie X
