• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Here is my first clock movement. An Urgos 32/3A. I actually bought two of them on Ebay for $10.00 each. The attached pictures are of the first one to be restored. I kept one together so I would have a reference to put the other one back together. As you can see I have it set up and running. Took a little bit to get the pendulum adjusted but it has been running several hours now without stopping. Now I need to build the case!!!:)

WELCOME, SMOKE! Welcome to a great group who loves clocks and those with questions about them. WELCOME also apparently to a great new hobby that will challenge you for many years but remember when you get frustrated as surely you will - that with every victory over frustration comes huge rewards and motivation to do more and get better.
Tell us if you don't mind - details: How did you clean, regulate, and adjust your movement?

Hello Scottie. Thanks for the welcome.

I basically took the clock bown to base parts, cleaned them withDawn dish detergent to get the gummed up oil and grease off. Took some soaking to get it clean. I checked both plates for wear and out of round holes, they were all good. I then measured the shafts for wear andfound them all to be good also. I think the biggest problem with this movement was all the grime.

Smokey:

I would like to add my welcome to that of Scottie. For you next movement, just take lots of digital photos every step of the way and you won't have to buy two of the same movement. But, this was a great way to start, without a doubt.

Again, welcome.

Welcome aboard!!!!
Success with your first clock movement has infected you with a life long passion for the wonders of clocks and watches. I really like the idea of buying TWO of every clock but I don't think my beloved wife would quite agree :(.
Seems to me like a very interesting (and challenging) selection for your first clock. Would you care to comment?

I chose this particular movement because there are so many of them around at very reasonable price. I figured for the first clock, if I do mess it up I'm not out a lot of money and its a good way to learn. I think on the second movement, that I bought for $5.00, I will need to do some new bushings as some of the holes are very obviously out of round. By the way, my other hobies are steam engines and old British sports cars. I basically love anything mechanical.

We definitely have British sports cars in common. I had an "E" type roadster for eighteen years. Still marvel at the likes of Sir William Lyons, Colin Chapman, etalii.
