Can anyone help with what this might be? I was given this old clock today. I assume it was an old grandfather clock at one time...

It’s a new one for me. Never seen that movement. First stops I have ever seen like those. Someone else will know more.

Pendulum is too short for a grandfather. Given it's only a timepiece with two barrels and springs, I'd say it was essentisl to always work, but tttthere seems to no sign of it being a time recorder in a factory.

I think you are correct. The one I have has been modified from something like this...probably followed someone home from work. Or less dramatic, was picked out of the trash.

It's a Seth Thomas 88.

This is from a time clock not the one posted above. This has wind indicators and geneva stops. These were so often cases that were cut down, the bottom discarded and turned into time only wall clocks. They are pretty cool piece of history, if you like that. Be careful if you intend to work on it. Springs are designed to power the time piece as well as the timing card stamp ( lower part ) Very strong. The EW can be damaged quickly as well if not taken down properly.

You can change the springs for .018" ers. Then you can wind it with a key. Willie X

Agree Willie X, When the timing part is removed no need for all that reserve power. The standard key was a T-handle about 3/8" shank.

It appears to be a double wheel time only clock. Any other features would be activated by levers below the movement. Could be a separate movement for stamping time, a calendar, etc.
