I have a Moser & Cie pocketwatch 18K gold.
Is there anyone who can give me information about this watch?
Serialnumber is 279351.
Nr. inside the clockwork is 706173.
Thank you very much.

Hello and welcome!

It's probably from the 1920's judging from the style of the case. The casemarks are too blurry in the last shot, even when enlarged, to make out. A more clear photo, and you may be able to find out more. Serial numbers generally are useless in trying to identify/date Swiss movements for the most part, though if a well-known manufacturer is still in business, they may have records to verify if you contact them directly.

That is definitely a more clear photo of the movement, but I was actually referring to the inner case lid (as seen in photo #4 of post #1) as I was trying to make out the marks on the case itself.

Having said that, the shield mark on the barrel bridge is recognizable as being that of Moser, registered in both Le Locle, Switzerland, and St. Petersburg, Russia, in May of 1882, according to Mikrolisk.

Thank you very much for the information!
So, If I am right it is a watch from 1882? I have never seen this pocket watch on the internet.
I hope this photo is better

Sorry, but this is almost certainly not a watch from 1882. The mark on the movement had been used since at least 1882 (when it was registered with the trademark office), maybe even earlier (sometimes these marks were used for a few months or even years before they were registered). The style of the case, dial, and finish of the movement suggest this is from the 1920s most likely, but almost certainly no earlier than 1910.

The 'bar' mark on the case has also been in use since at least 1882, when it was also registered by Moser. That face looking to the left is the Swiss gold standard Helvetia mark for solid 18K gold, which was used starting Dec. 23, 1880 (when the Precious Metals Control Act was passed in Switzerland), though most of the marks passed at that time did not receive widespread use until 1882 or 1883. The 'bar' mark shown below is also courtesy of Mikrolisk:

Hi
I think I gave a pretty good indication of date in my earlier post
Surely not a late 1800 watch - sorry

Thank you both very much for the information!
If I understand the rules of this forum I have to ask in another place on this forum to ask what the value is of this watch.
