Hi, the Monsoon Season has arrived, it is Wet Wet Wet! I have the Heater on; Darwin houses do not have Fireplaces or Heating, so the Electric Oven is on with the Oven Door open. Expected Rain in photo; I live in Palmerston about 20 Kilometers from Darwin City. Regards Ray

Hi new2clocks, we can expect a wet week. :
TERRITORIANS should prepare to batten down the hatches this week with up to 400mm of rain and strong winds predicted to batter the Top End.

Darwinites experienced a wet weekend with 137mm at the airport over the past three days while more than 200mm totals were recorded in Milingimbi, Ngayawili and Bing Bong.

NT severe weather meteorologist Billy Lynch said the monsoon was now well developed across the Top End with a tropical low over the Carpentaria District." Regards Ray

Hi, it is still raining and at the moment it is like living in a Goldfish Bowl or an Aquarium. It is not cold but the Air is heavy with moisture. My Country retreat at Darwin River (my Mates Place) is almost flooded and the water is lapping at the doorstep; the Darwin River runs through the center of the property. Seven years ago the water went through the bottom of the house about 2 meters deep. My Mate at the moment is moving stuff upstairs. To get to the Refrigerator you go up a small stepladder; the same with the Stove. The house is like a Kenya Safari house with Shade cloth walls downstairs and proper walls upstairs on one side and open on the other side. The house will not move or wash away because it is on a Concrete Slab with a Steel RHS Frame. The water just flows through the shade cloth. There have been 380 people evacuated from the Daly River area to Darwin. So far no sign of the rain stopping; well it is the Monsoon Season!!! Regards Ray

Hi, just an update on "My Country retreat at Darwin River (my Mates Place)", I was just talking to my Mate and he told me the Water went through the ground floor level about thigh deep. He is pressure spraying to get rid of the mud. There is 100% forecast for rain today; where I live had 230mm's of rain 2 days ago. I think that there is webbing starting to grow between my toes and fingers like the Frogs who love the weather at the moment and are Croaking there heads off. Regards Ray

Is this mating season for frogs, Ray? Sounds like the kind of weather that makes you think, "we may need a bigger boat"......

Hi Graham and PatH, nothings dry; the Weather Bureau may say it is easing but it is still really pouring down where I live. I have to go for Cancer tests in 2 days at the Royal Darwin Hospital; I may put it off for a week. Regards, your very damp Ray
