I'm looking for a Monarch 60-beat master movement, pendulum and dial. I have a cherry case to put it in. More photos on request. Thanks.

    John,

You may also want to post this same request in the "Specialist Horology" section below Under "Early Electrics Clocks and Watches, 1840 to Present". That section will not get as much attention as this one but it may relate more directly to the item. Hope you find one.

    John,

Have you been able to find the Monarch Movement yet. You will also need to find one of the unique monarch pendulums. If the case is the same as my case, I think you will need a 80 beat movement rather than a 60 beat? Can you post a picture of the case?

    Rick,
I can't seem to attach a photo in a reply. The case appears to be cherry and is just over 5 feet tall. I'll email you directly with a photo.

Well, amazingly the link does work. Rick, as you can see, John has the 60 beat case.

That was the first time that I had seen his case and I was affraid he was looking for the movement for this case. His battle will be to find the stock pendulum, as the were unique to that clock as far as I can find out.
    Thanks for your help.

I agree Rick. I believe they were six tube (three on each side), with longer tubes than yours, and the brass holders on the rod were shaped somewhat differently from yours. I have only seen one, ever.

How did you post the picture of your clock directly to your response? I couldn't figure out how to do it with the new policy on picture posts. I'm afraid that wthout easy posts of pictures this board will quiet down again and a lot of information exchange willl not happen.

I believe that these unusual pendulums were also used on the year running differential clocks. The seconds beat one will be very difficult to locate. I have never seen one in 35 years of collecting.

    Joe,

I have those pictures saved on my web site server and in order to diplay them on this message board, I use the Icon at top of the reply page that looks like a picture. The next to end on the right. You have to enter the picture address, in the previous picture, that is http://rareclock.org/db5/00432/rareclock.org/_uimages/monarch.jpg

the trick is haveing the picture saved on the net. If you copied the above address in your browser, the picture would come up. In order to do that on this page it just has to have the HTML code.

It seems to work great for me and I just hope they don't stop allowing this method of display. As with you, the pictures speak volumes about the subject.

    Joe,
Thanks for posting the the link to the photo of my case. The movement in the case is obviously incorrect.
I was told that the tubes are faux--not mercury filled. If I am so fortunate to find only a movement I would make a matching pendulum as long as I have the measurements, etc.

    Joe,

When you have the time, look thru my web site.
WWW.Rareclock.org bet you will find a few more clocks you seldom see. Click on the company name and it will take you to that page with information and additional pictures. All the clocks except two are in my collection, those that aren't, I have tried to buy.
Let me know what you think.

Rick, you have enough there to put together a few articles for the Bulletin! I am very impressed with your collection. I'm not really very knowledgeable about electric masters and other electrics so it is a real learning experience to go through your website (I just get a lot of questions on electrics as a result of my time recorder articles in the Bulletin). I'm embarrassed at some of the short answers I have given on this baord to various questions when you have so much more information so handy.

    Joe,

We are all fortunate that Rick not only has the premier collection of this type but that he is also computer savvy enough to have developed a web site that gives us all a chance to see clocks that most of us didn't even know existed.

    Thanks Rick,

John, I think I have the correct movement to fit your case. It is a Monarch movement and has a 30 tooth escapement wheel. I bought it sometime ago and hate to say it, but paid a war price for it when I bought it.

Also, I have a complete 60 beat Monarch master with the correct pendulum and would be willing to dis-assemble it, take measurements, weight the bars (for lack of a better term) and the make a diagram of the end patterns so that you could have one fabricated to specs.

I have been collecting for several years, and I would be amazed if you could find the correct pendulum. Your best hope would be to fabricate one and then if you ever happened up on one, you could subsitute it. Anyway, contact me offlist at dbphelps@bluegrassbenefits.com.

    Group,
I have contacted Derek off-list. He has sent me photos of the correct movement, and is willing to part with it.
I'll have to fabricate a pendulum, but Derek has graciously agreed to photograph and measure his 60-beat pendulum. Does anybody know what metal the long rods (in the above photo) are made of?
Thanks for everybody's help. I'm sure other questions will arise as I try to reassemble this puzzle.
