Welcome to the board.

Molyneux company wasn't in business very long, they were bought up by Colonial in the mid 1970s. I think Colonial kept using the Molyneux name but what you have is basically a Colonial clock.

This is a modern clock so there will not be a whole lot of 'history' besides it being in your friend's family. is there anything in particular that you wanted to know?

Others may know more.

The cable wound movement was most likely made by Kieninger. A straightforward triple chime movement with moon dial and chime/strike shutoff. Used by many companies during the 1980s.

Andy Dervan might know more about Molyneux.

If you search this site (use the little magnifying glass icon at the top of the page) you will find quite a lot of information about Molyneux and how they were taken over by Colonial.

These clocks do not sell for much these days.

In 1976, Chris DenHerder, President Colonial Mfg. in Zeeland, MI purchased the very small Molyneaux Clock Co. in California and it had a unique dial. He sold off all the company's inventory.

Colonial Mfg. Co. developed a line of clocks (high cost) using their dial and introduced them in late 1977. I don't much beyond that as I don't have any Molyneaux catalogs.

Your clock was produced in 1981. On the outside backboard there should be a stenciled 4 digit model number. If you can provide me that number I can possibly provide more information.
