Mistakes on clocks.

This c1975 oak cased battery/mechanical hybrid clock has the Ford motor company logo on the dial and a nice gold on mirror image below titled "1903 Model A Ford".

The image might be of an early Model T but the Model A was about 25 years in the future. Ha

Actually, the caption is correct. The first car produced under the Model A name was in 1903. It was followed by the Model B and Model C in 1905, then the Model K (a six-cylinder car) and the Model N in 1906 , the Model R, the Model S and finally in 1908, the Model T. Not sure why the '29-'31 Ford was also called the Model A.

Holy cow, $693K for a high sale price? That's absolutely insane! Even the more "normal" prices between $100K and $200K are still a lot of money!

The "1903 Model A Ford" caption is in a much later font - possibly Lucida Calligraphy, mid-1980s.

It's an excellent title, Willie! I've made more mistakes on clocks than I can count...

Ever since I was a kid, I've been called a "gearhead". It's only in the last few years I've discovered the gears in clocks. I should write my memoir some day. I think I shall call it "The Bodger Chronicles: Confessions of a Hack Mechanic."

Yep, a regular model A, in pretty good condition, can cost you upwards of 10 grand. I almost bought one a couple of years back. Stupid me, I can't even keep up all the stuff I already have!!! Willie

Let's not forget that Model styling changes over time.

Styling and technological changes to the Chevy Corvette are much more dramatic, I think. I'm no expert. I maintain and drive a car until it just won't go anymore without serious costs! We currently drive a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid. We were driving a 1996 Honda Accord until some Jack Wagon ran a red light in his company's Ford F-150 in 2021, clipped the passenger front fender/bumper and tore the front end off of our car. A 1996 with that kind of damage gets totaled. We would have made up the difference, but, you know...."parts"? Not a scratch on the F-150. The LEO told me that Cars generally don't do well when they collide with Pick-ups.

Oh well, be safe out there. They are vehicles, not Delorean Time Machines.

Know where you're coming from, Bruce. We drive older BMWs because I've been a BMW mechanic forever and know how to keep them going. The newest car in our fleet is a 2004. Our F-150 was totaled by a secondary impact caused by a Prius, of all things. The Prius drove the truck in front of ours into ours - sideways. Fortunately there were no major injuries, but we had to resort to the courts and even then our award didn't cover our loss.

Amen to the former Schatz! It's really sobering to consider what you put at risk every time you get behind the wheel to share the road. We're seriously thinking of getting a dash cam.

I drive everyday in a large city and recently had my Ford Transit totaled on the interstate. Rear-ended dash cam was no help but fault was obvious. I have had a dash cam since another "skirmish" few years back but I find unless you keep up with them constantly they stop and become unreliable when you need them most. Kinda like an old clock.
