my clock mentor asked i would ask you all if you could help:

"Can you please check with your sources on line for the teeth count and diameter of the missing pinion gear that drives the count wheel. The mvt is for a long drop Ansonia hour strike regulator. Thanks."

If I understand the question, I don't think there is any missing gear. The countwheel mounts in the plate with a spider spring clip.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Didn't they use one long trundle on that lantern pinion ? That's why the count wheel has saw teeth form . Solder on the lantern looks like someone has been there before .

he's pretty experienced and is thinking there should be a brass pinion similar to the ones below (from a gilbert). he had to fix a broken lantern pinion rod and thinks maybe the brass pinion part got lost when the damage happened.

Well...........that's my story.......and I'm s....s....stickin' to it .
Your story is right. One or two (depending on the movement) of the pins on the pinion are longer than the rest, and as the pinion turns, it advances the count wheel. That missing pinion gear you are asking about is not missing. The solder on the end of the lantern pinion is where the longer pin was. Someone replaced it with the wrong pin.
