I've had this for many years and I'm quite certain that it isn't an "enhanced" case. But it's an oddity, bearing what appears to be a military marking (Pheon) and EC. 12608. The movement's an FHF 29, unfortunately lacking a dial - something that might have made it easier to make sense of such an un-military looking watch.

A little on line snooping suggesst this may be a fairly scarce Olmos watch for the Emercney Commission (EC) for the brits "Indian Army" circa 1943-ish. Check out a similar one in the book "British Military Timepieces" by Konrad Knirim. Perhaos one of our British members could add something?

Thanks everyone. That certainly nails it conclusively. I've already dug through the midden looking for the dial that belonged to this watch even though I can't recall seeing it previously. It would be nice to add a dial and although I have numerous that fit the movement, none are the correct shape. Runs very nicely after a basic service though.
I might even see if there's an affordable copy of that reference book available at a sensible price.

This watch was originally bought by a good friend of mine as part of an auction lot in Adelaide, South Australia, some time in the 1980s. Neither he nor I can recall whether it had a dial at the time. I imagine that some Indian Army officers (and it surely would have been an officer) came from Australia. I've wasted a lot of time looking for a/the lens for it!
