i seem to have identified my latest acquisition as what's left of a mathias bauerle longcase clock... sold to me as and now functioning as a wall clock. while there are oddities, the case and movement match exactly photos found online.

is there really no documentation of serial numbers for bauerle/embee/peerless clocks? no german equivalent of tran du ly pulling together info from old catalogs? no book sitting on one of your shelves that provides any more info that the few threads on the forum (which i have been through)?

i'm thinking i already know the answers, but wanted to give it one last try... just in case.

please do NOT combine threads before reading this

I was asking a specific question about whether info and serial numbers exist and NOT for identification… separate question, separate thread, yes?

'what is it?' will not help those asking the question(s) posed in this thread... but those looking for information on bauerle, embee, and peerless would see this thread title come up in a search

again the question is are there any records on these clocks, any books, any websites with serial numbers? I see this as a different topic but you're the man and its your call

    thanks,
    smike

In the past, I found some info on Google, but not a lot.

    walt -

thanks for forwarding those links... i reviewed every thread on the forum searching for the answers to my questions before posting.

i found a couple of individual serial numbers for bauerle movements, with only one tied to a specific "and he bought it new in 1902".

there is very little info available online... which is why i was asking if any of our esteemed colleagues had reference books that might cover mathais bauerle, embee, peerless, etc. you never know when someone is going to respond with a scan of an original catalog or know of some obscure reference.

it's a long shot, but what the heck!

    thx,
    smike

Great question. If you can identify numbers, please let me know.

Are you sure your clock is a Bäuerle? I have never seen a Bäuerle movement marked like this.

I just posted a thread with all the photos:
    My First Clock

But I also see this is a mystery mark that has been discussed a lot in the forums and has been attributed to Max Busse.
