Main spring installation 6 size seth thomas pocket watch

Hi All, I'm trying to install a new main spring into the barrel. I've done this before on other larger watches, but having difficulty with this one. It is a "T" end spring. Normally I feed the spring in until it's entirely in, but it's painful...and dangerous. Is there a tool that I can get for this?

I use a Robbins type (126) ms winder for the task.

I also use the end of a tweezer to hold down the T end into the barrel hole when releasing the spring from the winder (whichever one you end up using). Have Fun!
