Found this today 5-12-12 for $340.This clock is in such good shape I almost didnt believe it.There is absolutely nothing wrong that I could tell on first look.I have been looking for a more local clock maker to me but this is the first I found.I almost couldnt keep a straight face when I was talking to the Owner of the store. The price started at $425.Mirror and top glass are original.Buy the way,how rare are these-Robert P1050644.JPG P1050646.JPG P1050651.JPG P1050645.JPG P1050648.JPG P1050661.JPG P1050657.JPG P1050642.JPG P1050654.JPG P1050663.JPG

Re: All original Luman Watson half column

    Hello Robert,

Nice find - Luman Watson made many wood movement shelf clocks so it is not rare, but clock appears to be very original -often the mirrors are replaced, stenciling on columns or splat is redone.

You might obtain better response on wooden movement board to your questions.

Maybe one of moderators will move or copy this thread to wood movement board.

What a beauty! Watson clocks are distinguished by the fantastic dials, very unlike anything made in Connecticut. The way the spandrel decorations spill into the chapter ring is just phenomenal., and not atypical of Mr. Watson. Robert, can you post a better picture of the case (not back-lit, but well lit from the front) so we can the finish on the case? Many of these have vigorous red and black graining that is so primitively done that, to the untrained eye, it looks like a later addition. As a result, many cases have unfortunately been stripped by well meaning, but ill-informed owners and dealers.
