Greetings. I've been contacted about purchasing a possible Scudder grandfather clock coming to market in NJ. The previous owner is my favorite author and deeply respected and admired. I'm very interested in obtaining information about the timepiece, a fair price and possibly purchasing. John Scudder appears to have been a cabinet maker in Westfield, NJ. He may have had a family member, Issac Broklow, who was a master clock maker. Scudder appears to have been making clocks in NJ in the late 1700s to early 1800s. I've reached out to seller and awaiting a reply. Seller is reported to be asking $12.5k. Can anyone provide more information about this type of clock and advice for valuation and purchasing?
