I have a clock my Grandfather hand made and it's extremely nice and I really really want to get it going :O
the only thing wrong is this gear, long shot but does anyone have any ideas? is it a common gear? it's probably only made for it :(
I can't put another complete movement in it as the movement is recessed etc.... it's just not swappable so I need to find a replacement gear.
Any ideas what the gear is called/type?
Any ideas on the model of the movement? it only has 09214 and 9021s stamped in the battery case.
Brand is Tochigi Tokei
Gear 14mm diameter with 55tooth/10tooth I think
Age I don't know fairly sure it's well before 2000 maybe right back into the 80's I have no idea.

Thankyou so much

Finding a gear for a 20+ year old quartz movement that's any better than the one you have is a very long shot. I don't understand why it can't be swapped for a new movement. There are quite a few quartz chime movements available in various sizes. Can you post pictures of the complete clock, and pictures showing how this movement is mounted. Perhaps a small modification to the case would allow a new movement?

Your old movement is obsolete.

Generally all you need to know is the overall size, what you want it to do and the hand shaft length.

It's usually best to order new hands too, just so you don't have to make a second order.

Do you have any woodworking skills? It wouldn't be difficult to mortise the opening for the movement to accept a larger movement. It would just take a router with a straight cutting bit. Chances are a new movement would be smaller in size than the original anyway.
