    Good Evening,

Seems like a silly request, but does anyone know of somebody who can reproduce the iron locking bolt that would slide up and down to prevent the top door of a grandfather clock from opening?

I have a nice grandfather clock circa 1700 that I would like to restore. The slot the bolt slides in and the latching hook are present but the bolt is missing.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Michael

Miichael: You might try a place that refinishes furniture, or a local handyman. Call your local clock repair shop ask them. Maybe your local hardware store knows of somebody doing that type of work.

Try looking in the classifieds in CLOCK magazine--you can get any part reproduced for English clocks.

    Check Van Dyke's Restorers catalog,
    1-800-558-1234
They have many styles of slide bolts. BR

  8. Shame on you Mike. Send me the lock and I'll fix it for you and have it back to you for next weekend.
