    Hi, All,

I want to avoid duplicate postings, but was considering this in the "Wood Movement" forum. I'm unsure of where to post this, so I'll try here first. My question has to do with the image on a glass on a Riley Whiting wood movement 30 hour carved column and splat clock. I'm interested to know what building it might be/have been, and if it is still standing, would love to see a current picture of the building(s).

The subject glass has a very specific title, but I'm unable to locate it on Google Maps or anyplace else. It seems that there is a St. Brides Church, but it is near Fleet Street in London, not on St. Brides Avenue. In fact, I can only seem to find a St. Brides area, not a street.

The glass has been touched up, but the image is much the same as it originally was, including the period after each word in the title.

Any help or comments as to the subject matter would be much appreciated!

    Warmest regards,

    George

Roughbarked, thanks for the leads. I had seen that website, but did not see an image that was close to the one on my clock. Have I missed something? Am I to assume that the image on my glass is a very early representation of one of the six churches that were at that same site over time? Sorry if these questions seem stupid...

    Thanks so much,

    George

    Hi, All,

Well, just heard back from the St. Brides Spa Hotel. Disappointing news, to be sure. They seemed less than interested in my question and provided a short, curt response "We have no knowledge of the history of our site. The structures are of recent vintage." Sigh... No help there. Anyone else familiar with London? The city has such a glorious history.

    Best to all,

    George

    Hi, All

Novicetimekeeper, I tend to agree with you. I wish I could see a Google "Street View" of all of St. Brides Avenue to see if a similar building exists, but alas, I think that solution is not to be. I'll probably just have to settle for the image as being an example of "what once was", rather than "it looks like this now". I do so much appreciate everyone's help. Sometimes I seem to get carried away with wanting to know everything about my clocks...

    Best to all,

    George

I think it is pretty clear that it doesn't.

Sadly, I tend to agree. I had "romantic" hopes that the buildings still stood, and had been restored to their former glory. I was looking forward to putting pictures in my clock history notebook, along with a detailed history of their existence. Sigh...
