Lion pull on Seth Thomas clock

I recently bought this clock and can't find a picture of the same model clock. To me it appears someone put a lion pull on the front of it to cover up a missing ornament. When I removed it though the case appears like it's always been there. I Just want to put it back to original condition. Any thoughts
