• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

Friend asked me if I could put a staff in a Lecoultre Street Lamp clock. Never messed with anything other than American pocket watches. Been searching for the last 2 hours for information. I can find a staff for the movement #229 on Ebay and they are spendy. After reading about this movement it looks like a staff replacement is not an easy task especially for a hack like me. Is this something I should delve into or say uncle and give up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Terry

Do you have a lathe? You are probably going to have to make one, or have someone make one for you. Contact David HERE and talk to him about it.

I worked on watches when I was around 16 and didn't have a hand tremor. And I was always under the impression that a balance staff could be re-pivoted rather than having to be replaced. Granted, every major and quite a few minor brands of watches had parts available back in 1963, so it was easier to just buy a new staff and replace it. But can't clock balance staffs just be re-pivoted?

The staff is available from Jules Borel. It's cheap. 100/2032

Getting someone to install it for you will be way cheaper than having someone make it.
That would for sure be the way to go, if it's the right one. Thanks for that info!
