Hi all
I have figured out there is a gear in this Ingraham motor that has worn down and I’m wondering if it’s even possible to get another? It’s at the tip of the blue arrow in the picture. The gear almost feels like a rubber type material rather than the hard plastic the others are. There is a sticker on the inside but under “model” it’s blank so I don’t know what model of motor this is
Any help is appreciated!

I think you have to find someone to make a new gear. I would check with About Time - David LaBounty (abouttime-clockmaking.com) Probably I would make the gear from Delrin or something non-metallic. You don't something that will damage the other plastic (nylon?) gears which may have become brittle with time. Dave will know what to do. Ordinarily I say just replace the entire movement with a quarts battery or electric movement, but these advertising cocks have some collectable value so it may be best to restore the damaged movement and keep the clock as original as possible.

Great thank you for some direction on this. I agree I’d rather keep it as original as possible

From looking at the shape of the cover in the bottom pic, this might be a direct replacement.

Really? Where’s the shaft for the hands?

I don’t know, you may have to use your old one. Hard to tell from your sideways pic, but looks like there’s just a couple of brads holding the hand shaft assembly to the plate. Drill out and replace with small screws. That would stand to reason, as different clocks probably have different hand shaft lengths. It may not literally be a direct replace replacement, but if that‘s all you have to do, that‘s about as direct as it gets for old electric clocks.
