I have a ladies pocket watch, gold in color, excellent condition, runs perfectly, not sure on the size, it looks about the size of a half dollar, about 1 3/16" diameter. It is clearly stamped J.W.C. Co on the inside, "warranted 25 years, crescent" with the # 202017236 on the inside of the cover. The workings are marked Elgin, 15 jewels, 16676692. It is not roman numerals, standard numbers, with a second hand circle where the 6 is. I am wondering about what year this is from? Thank you.

    Hi bnewcol:

Welcome to the NAWCC American Pocket Watch Message Board!

Your watch case is gold-filled and I suspect that you misread the case marking. It sounds like it is was made by C.W.C.Co., the Crescent Watch Case Co.

Unless you know that it has been cleaned and oiled within the last few years, you should have the watch serviced before running it very much. It may be helpful for you to read the Encyclopedia article on Watch Service and its related links, especially the one to the message board thread on the subject. The Encyclopedia article on Choosing a Pocket Watch Repair Person may be useful as well.

Please feel free to ask about anything that isn't clear to you.

    Good luck,

    Hello
Thank you for the reply. I did not misread the case marking, as the watch is in pristine condition, it is very clear, and it is J.W.C. Thank you for the repair info, I will get it serviced.
