Greeting to all!! I recently acquired this neat little Korean GLORY 31 day Mantel clock. It runs solid, keeping its beat. And surprisingly, she quite heavy. I took the door off to get a better look at the inner workings and everything appears to be in its place. The one thing I am having trouble is that the chimes block has four holes but only 1 rod, all I get is a "THUD" but two hammers. Any ideas or suggestions on getting this girl to sound off her chimes and what kind of rods should I be looking for. Your input and clock knowledge would be greatly apricated.

There may be four holes but I'd expect that the other two holes were for different cases. These usually had two hammers and two chime rods. I have a box with about four or more of the two rod gongs. So this means that someone in your country probably also has the same. Many of these clocks were scrapped or fitted with quartz movements and I doubt that repairers throw the gongs away. I didn't.

The thud you are experiencing is due to the fact that the hammer requires adjustment so that it hits the gong and bounces away to allow it to ring.

Very few Asian clock parts are stocked anywhere. You may find an identical used one. If you want new, then you'll need to buy a complete new 2-rod chime block and do the necessary fitting. Several parts supply houses will have suitable replacements.

In the past, I have has success in adjusting the hammers. These are giving me HECK!! I adjust from the hammer to the right angle going up, or is there an adjustment up in the movement which I am not aware of??

Thank you. I know a fellow who has a "Parts Junk Yard", he thinks he may have one.
