I just picked this up today, but thought I would post them here instead of the "Latest Acquisition" section.

First is a Koma Diana:

It measures 10.5" x 6.5" x 4.75".

And second is a Koma Diana (this one without "Koma" on the dial):

This one measures 10.5" x 7.75" x 6".

Both have glass, not plastic, and on the back plate is the Koma logo and "Made in Germany" I don't see any other markings.

I really like the dials on both - very "clean" looking. I hope you like them - let me know.

Would anybody be able to provide any information or approximate dates?

And now the story...

I found these on Craigslist. The woman offered the first, and when we met, she presented the second "in case I was interested." She was the sweetest person you can imagine, and offered to let me look them over in my car for a while if I wanted to and even said I could take them home and decide and if I didn't like them, we could meet again to return them. She had them carefully wrapped and apologized because the foam was reused and slightly old looking. I had only brought a few more dollars than she was asking for the first, and I said I would need to find an ATM. She immediately offered to let me send her a check. I'm embarrassed to admit I only paid $10 for each, but I am sending her a check for the remaining $5.

There are still nice people in this world.

From the repair guide, I think they're both plate 1392 and the guide says ca 1954.

Tom, thanks for sharing this story. Every one of my clocks also has a story, some more interesting than others. Some of my favorite stories are about the people who find me to restore their special clock. One of the more memorable was a Nagasaki survivor with Alzheimers/dementia. Her son asked me to fix her grandfather clock which had been silent for many years. After I completed and returned it, she would just sit next to it and wait for the quarter hour chimes, then smile when she heard them.

Wow, I think that trumps my story. That's an incredible connection with a major historical event, and it must have been very rewarding/comforting for you to be involved. If only clocks could talk... Not clock related, but on the other end of WWII - I have been fortunate enough to pilot an underwater ROV inside of the USS Arizona, and it was certainly one of the most humbling, moving and awe inspiring moments in my life - chokes me up and gives me goosebumps every time I think about it.

Is there an appropriate section on the MB for clock stories? I guess "Horological Misc," would work, but boy I bet there are a lot of good stories people could share and it seems to me like it could deserve its own section. I know I would be a regular reader.
