• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

DSCN3169.jpg DSCN3168.jpg DSCN3172.jpg Just made a 5 hour round trip to pick this up today, I couldn't pass it up for $350.00. Is there any way to date it? I'm guessing '20's or '30's but would like to get it closer if possible. Any idea who would use a clock with a 24 hour dial? This is the first I've seen. This is a youtube link for anyone who hasn't heard a Kienzle tall case clock with a bim bam strike http://youtu.be/LHyzT9_pZ0k

Wow, that really has a nice tone! Great find. I also like Xenon in the background - flashbacks to the late 70s? Early 80s? Played it in college, anyway.

I have a very similar Kienzle. Though mine has westminster chimes. You got a great clock, nice find, i would think, 20,s 30,s for age.

This one was made during the 1920s-1930s period. Kienzle's five rod bim-bam strike was known as the Barden-Gong. The exact Barden-Gong profile varied over the years but the general configuration wasn't changed. Attached is an early example.

Those 24 hour dials were also populous during the same date range. It was just a quick way to incorporate 24 hour time on a 12 hour movement, one taking care to memorize the 24 hour cycle.

Thanks for the information! On this clock the gong plate wasn't labeled but looks like the one in your photo. The only markings are on the movement.
