Kienzle Automatic

Picked up a little rough looking Kienzle Automatic for very little. Has a small amount of battery leakage and overall needing some cleaning. It will run if I manually activate the solenoid that winds the mainspring, so that's a good sign.

Ran into a little problem getting the movement out of the face plate, the spanner screwdriver nut is stuck. I have a few spanner blades but nothing deep enough to go over the stem. Never seen a tool that would fit this nut and using a screwdriver on one side with force is surely going to mangle it up. Applied a little Kroil penetrating oil on it and letting it soak overnight. Any idea's on where to find a tool?

A cheap screwdiver and cut the middle out so it fits over the thread.

That was my backup plan short of finding something made for this. Well now I have something made for this and I'm running out of yard sale screwdrivers to modify.
Part broke loose with a loud snap, ridiculous tight.

Had a good bit of corrosion of the back plate, looks to have been galvanized so I cleaned it up and painting it to stop any rust.

Did not find any problems with the Kienzle 606e, it just cleaned up and runs. Not sure what the BPH for its supposed to be, searched the board and net but found nothing. It looks to be somewhere around 16200bph?

Little cleaning of the case and its back together. Thinking about adding a external battery case in the bottom of the clock because is seems this design ends up shorting the battery once its too weak to activate the solenoid anymore leading to leaking battery. Guess your supposed to notice it stopped and replace the battery...

Yeah, I'd reckon a stopped clock is always the time to make sure the battery doesn't leak.
