• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Hello. I’ve zero experience and knowledge on these types of clocks. Got it from a thrift store.
The mechanism to run it is not complete. I’ve seen some online with a brass housing and some with just a wire. Which one is needed here.
could someone also have a date for it.
Many thanks.

All will have the delicate 'suspension wire'. Most will have (or had) some type of cover over this wire.

Buy 'THE BOOK', even if you are planning on repairing just one 400-Day clock. Any addition is good, old or new. Teriwiggler (sp) is the author.

This book is the 'price of admission' into the wonderful world of 400-Day clocks.

Good luck, Willie X

The book referred to is:

TERWILLIGER, Charles.
Horolovar 400-Day Clock Repair Guide
Publisher: Horolovar Co.

There are many editions - the latest one I have the 10th edition of 1991, but there may well be later editions.

The 10th edition is the latest and last edition.

The serial number is needed to get a close date. It had a suspension guard too so that will narrow it down some, 1927 or later.

The ratchet spring on the back is not engaged with the pawl. Be very careful if you try to wind it without fixing the spring first. You could end up with very hurt fingers!
