I find it very difficult to find good original American-made clocks in my area. Most have been altered in some way. Today, I got a call from a local antique shop owner, who wanted to sell a calendar clock. I contemplated a long time (10 seconds) about whether I wanted to see it or not. I was there in about 1/2 hour. It is a beautiful Sessions calendar school house clock with everything original. I got it at a great price. All it needs is a click rivet. I have already replaced that. It is in the Ultrasonic as I write. I am posting some photos. They are still out there. You just can't give up. Coments appreciated!!

Great find, Will. You are right, there are still lots of good clocks out there waiting to be found. I've never had a calendar clock (except my Korean with a calendar, but I don't count it as collectable). Still looking:D

Couple weeks ago I got a call from a dealer to check out a clock. All he could tell me was it was a Sessions, the bottom glass was cracked and the dial had flowers on it. Come get it for $75...
As it turned out, it was like yours, only with a strike movement, calender clock. I only found this out after it was sold to someone else.

And yeah, my fault for dragging my feet to go check it out, figuring by the description I got, it was nothing I would be interested in.

A little off track, but Billy did you find out if your Langdon clock was a 30 hour or 8 day clock.
That one sure is a keeper.:p

Hi Kevin,
Yeah, it was a 30 hr. Its' been running sweet now for a couple weeks. The movement had some minor issues, cracked teeth, worn pivots, older previous repairs, etc.
Those wood movements are a different animal to work on :D but we got through it.;)

Sounds nice Billy, did you happen to take pictures of the movement?

Your original point is well taken, wow. There really are some keepers out there! I saw a tv show a few days ago about a couple of guys who drive around the backroads looking for stuff to buy and resell - not just clocks, but anything. They drove up to some farmer's barn which contained a lifetime collection of junkyard "good stuff", and part of it was a clock collection. The camera didn't dwell on the clocks unfortunately but looked like some gorgeous dusty old wall clocks & mantel clocks.

Great program! I believe it's called "American Pickers" and I think it's on the History Channel. It follows the adventures of 2 antiques dealers who drive around the countryside with the philosophy that they will buy anything they think they can make money on.

I saw the episode you refer to. They didn't show an iota of interest in the clocks! I kept on yelling at the TV, "What about the clocks?", but, they didn't listen.

"American Pickers" has been going on for a long time. I knew a guy in Pennsylvania who did that sort of thing in the 60's and 70's. Got a lot of good stuff that way.

Yours is the Star Pointer model. Probably my favorite of their long drop series. The only thing I see is the original glass is either replaced or the stencil has worn away......Great find!

I started this thread, so I thought I would show off the finished product. Here are photos of my Sessions long drop.
