Just finished cleaning a 50's era K & O 400 Day and replaced the torsion spring using the Horolavar book as a guide. The clock runs fine before the hands are attached. It will also run with just the hour hand attached. The minute hand is held by a pin, and as soon as it is attached, the clock will run a few minutes and then stop.
Added info: The flat and spring washer on the canon pinion don't provide enough tension to keep the minute hand from flopping, but if I shim it to give it tension, the clock stops.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had this problem recently on a 400 day clock i worked on. I turned the nut over and that solved the problem for me.

Maybe swap taper pin on minute hand for one just very slightly thinner.

Make sure the hour hand is pushed onto its wheel far enough that the minute hand isn't rubbing on it.

Bingo! I'm a tad embarrassed that I didn't think of that. Thanks a bunch.
