Its running quite and keeping time. Is there an adjustment on the chimes and how is the time set? Thanks in advance!

Hi Bigjeep,
To set the time, open the back of the clock and turn the knob (circled in red) counterclockwise.

Can you provide more specific information regarding your chime adjustment question?

Hi

does this model clock self-adjust on its bell chime for the hours! If not, is there a way to correct the amount of chimes to the hour? I don't have photos yet on my computer.

This movement does not have, or need, a self-correct mechanism. There is a snail on the hour wheel to determine the number of strikes, so if is not striking the correct number of times, the hands may be out of adjustment.

This movement is notorious for having strike issues. As the gears and cams wear, the excess slop will allow the strike mechanism to rapidly jump when the strike engages, resulting in the first strike being missed. A search for "Telechron Ships Bell" will show other posts regarding this movement. While there are not very many parts in the movement, it can be a frustrating beast to work on.

How do you adjust the hands. And can the dial glass be removed for cleaning?

I would need to see photos of the front and back of the case to determine how to remove the glass and access the hands. On some, the glass bezel is held in place by friction pins that allow it to be easily removed. More likely, the entire movement will need to be removed and tabs on the bezel bent out of the way to remove the glass. These tabs weaken with each bend and usually break off after 3 or 4 bends. If you have this style of bezel, I would not recommend removing the glass just for cleaning, rather have it done with a full service of the clock. The electrical wiring on the coil is fragile and easily damaged which is another reason not to disassemble the clock unless you have some experience working on this type of clock. The hands are also unlikely to need adjustment unless someone has been attempting a repair. It is more likely that the chime is off due to wear of the movement.

It's in like new condition, running and keeping time, very quit! I probably would not put the clock through that torture!
