Its running quite and keeping time. Is there an adjustment on the chimes and how is the time set? Thanks in advance!
How do you adjust the hands. And can the dial glass be removed for cleaning? This movement does not have, or need, a self-correct mechanism. There is a snail on the hour wheel to determine the number of strikes, so if is not striking the correct number of times, the hands may be out of adjustment.
This movement is notorious for having strike issues. As the gears and cams wear, the excess slop will allow the strike mechanism to rapidly jump when the strike engages, resulting in the first strike being missed. A search for "Telechron Ships Bell" will show other posts regarding this movement. While there are not very many parts in the movement, it can be a frustrating beast to work on.
