Very nice. And lovely patinated dial. I would give the movement a service and aside this let it be as it is (except the following).

Obviously the bell stand and the bell need attention. Whoever did this should be tarred and feathered and chased out of town.

I have parts that I can use to make the movement more period correct. What do you think of the top portion? Looks like someone cut the finial and the scrolls down, probably to fit in someone’s house. From what I’ve read Josiah was a Clockmaker as well as a silversmith in Pennsylvania circa 1830 to 1877. I believe the bonnet would have had two more finials one on either corner.

Hm, I would not be sure about the top, it might as well be original like that, there always are exeptions of "rules". But a close look at the respective faces should reveil whether cuts were made or not. At least a refinish of the cut surfaces should become evident, if cuts have been made.
