• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Here's another one in my repair que. All Baillie's says is 18th century. It's had a hard life, lots of punched bushings in need of help. Typical 8 day movement. Nicely decorated dial.

Harold, Loomes lists a John Fisher in Preston 1740-65. It is a nice dial especially the spandrels which are the four seasons, spring top left, summer top right, autumn bottom right and winter bottom left, their use dates to those listed for Fisher.

Thanks, Jonathan. I've seen the 4 seasons on painted dials often enough, and didn't make the connection with this one. :thumb:

Here's another example of a brass dial with the four seasons. I know of another by the same maker, Clare, Hatton.

Nice dial. I'd be thinking probably more 1760 than 1740 given the lack of markings on the dial and large numerals. Are the hands original? They look a little long especially the hour hand. What sort of case is in it?

Cheers
Dean

Hi, Dean. I have suspicions as well that the hands may not be original. It has a flat top case. I'll post some pictures once I have it back together, as many glue joints had failed rendering it quite unstable.
