Good day,
I just bought this clock to clean up and resell.
I have been searching the internet for clocks made by "BLESSING" I see a lot of alarm clocks and not much in the way of wall clocks.
I see they ran a business from the mid 1800,s until 1977.
The movement in this case is unmarked excerpt for "614 MADE IN GERMANY".
"Blessing" is on the top above the chapter ring and at the bottom it says "MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY". the other smaller clocks I have seen say "WEST GERMANY"

it is not of much value, but I am interested if anyone has any information.

Thank You

Mark

Yes, you are right, Blessing Werke did make a lot of small alarm clocks, and perhaps they were best known for those, but they made other clocks as well, such your wall clock. As for dates, you are correct that Blessing Werke went out of business in 1977, but they started in 1940, not mid-1800s.

It's hard to be definite about the age of your clock, but I would guess it dates from mid 1960s. Someone else may know better.

Hope this helps a little.

Thank you for for the correction on the start up date. Digging around on the net doesn't always give accurate information. I have search for wall clocks, but not much luck. Do you think they made the movement or outsourced it?

Hmm- I have some doubts about the age of this clock.

We know, Blessing made in the 1950s not only alarms, but also some wall clocks, but later Blessing became specialised in alarms and small novelty clocks. I can imagine, this is a movement, Blessing has bought by another maker.

This movement has several plastic parts and I also have doubts about a dating in April 1961.

Because of the design of the case and these plastic parts I would date this clock in the 1970s, but not in 1961.
