why is it that when trying to respond to a post in the “What’s this Clock Worth” section, I’m told I have insufficient privileges to post here. I can post in other categories.
    What’s up with that?

You must first check “Discussing Values” in the Personal Details section of your profile. That provides the terms of the forum. Otherwise, you cannot access the forum.

You can access your profile by clicking on your avatar; then select Personal Details. You can also access your Personal Details by clicking on the third line of the banner above the Value Forums, as below.

These forums provide a place for open discussion of the value of specific items.
Registered message board users are free to ask questions about and offer personal opinions on the value of specific items in ONLY these 4 forums.
CLICK HERE to agree to the special Value Forum rules/disclaimers & permission to post .

Thank you Steven, but there doesn’t seem to be a box to check.

Click on the avatar to the left of the magnifying glass in the upper right of the screen. Then click on Personal Details. Midway down that page is the box to check - "Discussing Values".

Once you clicked the box and saved the change the box disappears. In order to activate the change you need to close the web page and get back in. Noticed this today when I had the same issue.

You must yield your innocence in order to discuss values. Once it is gone, you cannot get it back.

Closing the web page is a browser issue and does not happen to everyone. i.e. it did not happen to any of us who tested it last year. :(

Some of our members here feel that any discussion of money impugns the purity of their collecting urges. If a person of that leaning wants to know what others think items are worth and later decides that was a bad decision on their part, we need a record of their choice.

In the distant past when such discussions arose and the values offered were offensive to the inquirer, they have asked that the discussion be deleted and even offered to litigate if that were not done.
