Good day everyone. I recently had a customer bring in an Ingraham parlor clock.. the Escape is worn and I am trying to find a replacement. The original is a 48 tooth that is is much bigger in diameter then the new ones. I am wondering if I can use the smaller 48 tooth as the replacement. Please see pictures

This is likely a half-deadbeat escapement. If you use a smaller EW you will also have to make a new verge with the correct lift angles and spacing. I don't see anything wrong with your existing EW that can't be corrected. Don't be too quick to give up on the original EW and verge. Replacing a 48 tooth half-deadbeat EW and verge is going to be a can of worms.

Thank you. It has a few teeth that are bent and worn. They are supper thin. I purchased a New EW and the verge to go with it. I will try to do what I can

We need to see the wheel and verge when you get it in. It may be the wrong type, and will require some finagling.

I recently had an EW that was worn more than the one you have. I brought it back to life using Dave LaBounty's planishing method shown in the attached PDF. I was surprised how well it worked & was glad I made the attempt before going thru the potential challenges of a replacement.

It looks repairable to me. Straighten teeth, mount in a lathe and top with a fine file, and then do it again. Then be sure the front and rear pivots are not sloppy. Then snug the saddle holes on the verge. Then polish the pallets. Sometimes that will do it.
