Hi folks!
I just picked up my second two-toned Illinois Grade 89. The first one I bought was SN 2586863 and it has a checkerboard pattern but also is what I would call "gold washed" with a gold toned background rather than the typical nickel. It also has gold/gilt screws, gold movement lettering, and gold colored regulator spring. Unfortunately some knucklehead scratched the gold finish above "Springfield".

The one I just recently picked up, SN 3591621 is more what I would call the "traditional" gold checkerboard with nickel background.

I've attached photos of the two for comparison.

Does anyone have any idea as to how many of the gold washed version were made? I've only seen a few when searching the net. Are there other variants besides these two?

As always, I appreciate any information from the knowledgeable membership of this site! Thanks!

Thanks for posting your photos. I'm also curious as to how many of these were made and still out there. Personally, I haven't seen any. I recently picked up # 3774793 and it's a beauty. It's a shame these don't get more attention. Here's my photo.

Regards to all,
Charles
