So I have collected a few watches with no specific method but now I would like to get into more "correct" or "original" watches. In looking and researching Illinois watches I quite often find this type of dial but can't find anything in documentation as to it's existence as a legitimate Illinois dial.
So is this type of dial a reproduction or real? I attached a small picture of part of a dial that shows enough for a knowledgeable individual to recognize.

WE need a better view than what you are showing. Most Reproduction dials are Painted metal of slick surfaced spray on epoxy and are fairly oblivious.
I can see the sunk from what a regular dial would have the sunken part of the inter dial, but you need to unscrew the bezel and take a full view shot of the dial because you left out the most important part of the the dial, The SIGNATURE.

I don't have a better picture. I had never seen an Illinois dial in any of the literature I had seen that had those half-moons at the hour positions. I had only seen diamonds or triangles (in and out).

I did find the dial in a 1927 Illinois dial catalog. No. 111
Sorry for the bother

Keep in mind, some dials are only appropriate for certain grade movements.
Have seen a BUNCH of Red Dot (red ball) dials on Bunn Special movements..

The dials imaged here, and the red ball were for mid-grade movements....

Yes, that was going to be part of my question. I had seen the dial described in my first post on a Sangamo and didn't think it was the correct dial and the catalog confirmed that.

If on a Getty Model Sangamo, yes a big red flag... as the Getty Sangamo dial foot pattern is different from later model 9, etc movements....

clipped dial feet
