This GRUEN style small p.w. has an unusual complex metal dial. Gruen used many different complex dial metal and enamel combinations at the 1920's time this expensive $100. American was made, but this one by Illinois was unique for this model. Perhaps a special order Swiss made? Not sure if gold alloy and the brilliant white areas have a fine textured crystalline marble appearance. Was this fine but cheaper model made in response to the various specials like the Gruen 50th made at the time? artbissell
