• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Can anyone tell me how I can source diagrams etc that give the names and application of lathe accessories?
Perhaps there are past threads.....how would I find them?

Thankyou in advance for any assistance!

Ozzy,

De Carle's "The Watchmakers Lathe" or Perkins' "The Modern Watchmakers Lathe And How To Use It" have pictures and descriptions of any accessory you could think of.

Online, you could browse through Tony Griffith's www.lathes.co.uk that often has accessories pictured if you know the name of your lathe.
If your German is good, try http://www.s1p.de/05_w/wzg/fr_kat_w.html
where Juergen Pahlow has a huge collection of Lorch lathes and accessories brochures online.

Aside from Per's excellent recommendations 2 other books (amongst many others) also come to mind:

"The Watchmaker's Lathe" by Ward Goodrich
"Practical Benchwork for Horologists" by Louis Levin and Samuel Levin
