• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

a friend has a large (27" tall) crystal regulator originally sold by tiffany and co. with this engraving across the front of the base.

any thoughts as to what the letters are, and which ones might have priority?

These monograms are notoriously difficult to read, unless you know the name of the person. My best guess is CFL, the L being the surname as it is in dark hatching, the C is fairly clear, and the F seems to be engraved as if it were coming at an angle out of the brass, which is unusual

I agree. In engraved, interlaced, three-letter monograms in this style, the last name initial is usually centered, and often accentuated by cross-hatching, the first name initial on the left and the middle name initial on the right. CFL.

CFL or CIL, is my guess, but I’m not great at identifying signatures and engravings though
