I'm trying to identify the pocket watch attached, because i need some spare parts. The diameter is 54 mm aprox, and thickness 10 mm. Anyone could identify this watch? Thanks.

I suspect you have an open face variant of the Centennial watch retailed by Cross & Beguelin in the 1870s. I believe their contract maker in Switzerland for these was Droz & Perret. 1870s ads attached.

Take a search for some of these names, and I’ll bet you’ll find a donor.

Carles, I will warn you about these watches, while they may possibly come from one manufacturer, they were usually finished by different people. My great, great grandfather was the Cross part of this company, I own a few dozen of these watches and found that almost nothing interchanges. I have tried changing balance cocks, gears and wheels and never found a perfect match. You will go through a bunch of movements to find a match I am afraid. Also, if you don't have a dial and hands, the hands are difficult to find and the minute hand arbor is very small and you may have to modify a hand to fit. I wish you luck in your search and, as I have lots of parts, if you can supply measurements I may be able to match something, no promises though. Rich Cross

Dear richiec, thanks a lot. I've been looking for Droz & Perret pocket watches, but none matches with mine. I need a minute wheel, and the hour wheel. I will send you a PM with measurements. Best regards.

In my view this is not a Droz & Perret. The hour seting mechanism is different from the one one used by Droz & Perret.

Because of the success of the Centennial Watch, several similar movement were sold on the US market in the same period, for example Triumph-Roskopf or Standard Watch, but made by other makers.

The barrel-cover for example looks more like this one from Robert-Calame then the one from the Centennial Watch.

Unfortunately I do not know the maker of this specific watch :(

I still think Droz & Perret, but it is a later one, so possibly 1880s under the Droz & Cie banner. I have an 1870s one and will post it with under dial shot ASAP. I believe there’ll be some evolution for this vs mine, as mine is 70k sn I think.

I remembered were I had seen the hand-setting mechanism :) Age advances, but sometimes memory still works:D

The mechanism was used by Hahn, Landeron. See here an example for a movement with Lepine configuration on the Rannft.

Tthe bridges are very different, but the hand-setting system under the dial looks to me very similar; please correct me if I am wrong..

Ciao

Posted my movement in a separate thread, with other D&P info. I think their bridge design patent would cover Carles’ movement, but I’m open to other views.

The setting bridge on mine is different (I also see the later Landeron as different) but Carles’ format of sn and second number next to it I think fit with Droz.

Either way, I think Carles will have to measure to find wheels that fit. Happy to measure mine, to check.
