Restored a client's Ridgeway Tall clock. Included in the cabinet base, along with a cute little mouse, was all original documentation. But packed in the deteriorated envelope were five of these copper wire things wrapped in tissue paper. I cannot visualize what role they
may have played. Humor me...What do you think? Bill

It looks like they were used to capture the mainsprings. No need to keep them.

I should have noted, each copper circle is about 1 inch diameter and this is a weight driven clock with chain lift. If they are mouse traps, they failed, the little critter is still there.

Is the clock 5 chime tube clock? First thing I thought of was maybe some kind of tube clamp for transport or something like that. I know tubes should be removed for transport, but maybe this is some ones other idea.
