Years ago I was friends with a Mate I met through work; he came from New Zealand. His Father was:
"Lions *a Big Attraction. — One of the
best known of the world's lion tamers^ —
Capt. Eric Flyger — will appear with
his seven trained lions when Wirth's
Circus- opens at Geraldton on Friday
night next for a season of three per
    formances. Captain Flyger and his
wife reared one of these lions after the
death of its mother, and it was a house
hold pet for some time. When the
animal grew older, however, it soon
showed a natural desire for meat even
though reared on a vegetarian diet,
and ft was quickly returned to the
circus. These lions will provide only
one of the many thrilling acts to be
presented in Geraldton on Friday and
Saturday nights next and also at tbe
    matinee on Saturday afternoon, tumb
lers, clowns, trapeze artists and a
series of equestrian acts all helping to
make the best circus show that has
ever visited Geraldton. The site of the
circus will be opposite the Geraldton
Hotel and the box plans are now on
view at the office of Geraldton News
papers Limited." One day I went into the Cage with Capt. Eric Flyger and the Lions, he assured me that all would be OK. A couple of the Lions were licking their lips and looking at me. I got out fairly soon. Regards Ray

I've never been caged up with lions, but I share my gardens and outdoor furniture with their smaller relatives. DSC01307.JPG DSC02878.JPG .
